Cupping is used by creating a vacuum (suction) on top of the skin- the underlying tissue is then raised into the cup. This helps to enhance circulation; helps relieve pain and release the toxins that are stored in your body’s tissue. When the cups are first put in place you will usually feel a tightening sensation that be uncomfortable- this sensation usually goes away in a couple of minutes. Each cupping session is unique to the client- the practitioner will develop a treatment plan with you.
Cupping helps stimulate the flow of blood, helps lymph drainage to the affected area and throughout the entire body. Cupping is also good for clients with colds, flu symptoms, muscle pain, anxiety, poor circulation, allergies, fevers and other pains.
Cupping therapy is not for clients who cannot stop bleeding or who bleed easily, clients that have skin ulcers or edema; pregnant women should be cupped with caution (never on lower back or abdomen).
