WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN GETTING A FULL SET OF LASHES

Here at Eye Do Lashes 4U LLC we want you to be informed as possible on what to expect during your lash extension application.  Please check out our other blogs for more information as well.

First your lash artist will give you the option of having a patch test or not.

You need to come to your appointment with CLEAN and MAKEUP FREE natural lashes.  No oil based products on them or around them- this will affect your retention.

Be prepared to lie on the table (on your back) for up to 3 hours.  Bolsters and mini stretch breaks will be given during your application. You also need to be able to keep your eyes relaxed and shut for the entire application time.

Contacts need to be removed prior to the service starting- we also recommend wearing your glasses home.

No caffeine before your appointment please – this keeps your eyes from twitching and moving during the service.

As much as we love to get to know our clients -during the initial application it is best not to talk due to the possibility of the eye pads moving around.  Please feel free to bring headsets with pre downloaded music or podcast of your choice.  We do play relaxing music throughout the application process as well.

Please be on time for your appointment.   Please see our blog on cancellation and late policy.

Once your lash artist has done your consultation with you- they will then do a custom lash mapping for your desired look with lash extensions. Along with taking before photos (after photos will also be taken when your service is completed).

You will then lie on the table generally with a pillow under your head to position your head correctly for the lash artist.

Your lash artist will then apply gel pads and or sensitive tape to your under eye area- to prevent bottom lashes from being lashed.  Map out your style on the eye pads/tape and begin application of the lash extensions.

At no time during the application process should you feel any pain, burning or stinging.  If you do let your lash artist know immediately so they can rearrange the gel pads/tape.

It is advised to wear comfortable clothing as well- our lash rooms are kept at a lower temperature but we do have blankets for you to cover with and a bio mat for you to lie on during the service.  See our blog on the bio mat.

Heavy eyeliner, eyeshadow and mascara are not recommended for use for at least 24 hours before your appointment.  Any products containing oil (including mascara and eyeliner) can leave a residue on your lashes for up to 3 days after you have completely cleaned them.

Remove your contacts prior to service (bring your glasses to wear home); please be on time for your appointment; caffeine is not recommended before your appointment.

WHAT IF I HAVE EYE MAKEUP ON WHEN I SHOW UP FOR MY APPOINTMENT?????

WHAT IF I HAVE EYE MAKEUP ON WHEN I SHOW UP FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

Here at Eye Do Lashes 4U LLC we request that you come to your appointment eye make up free.  The reason for this is that the makeup and makeup residue can affect the retention of your lash extensions.

If you do show up with make up on your natural lashes and this is your first full set- your lash artist will assess the amount of makeup that is on- remove what they can and advise you of the best option.

If this is a fill appointment your lash artist will do the same as above (and probably frown a little) due to the fact that you should never be wearing mascara on your lash extensions due to it breaking down the adhesive that is used to apply your lash extensions.

The time that it takes for your lash artist to remove the make up (lash bath) will be deducted from your fill/full set time and may result in a “not full” look.

If you are a heavy makeup user and have problems cleaning your lashes at home you may want to schedule weekly deep lash cleansing baths with your lash artist.

Please feel free to call us with any other questions 970-231-6513 and don’t forget to check out our other blogs that are full of other useful lash extension information.

WHAT IS THE FALL SHED???

WHAT IS THE FALL SHED?

Here at Eye Do Lashes 4U LLC we want you to be as informed as possible about your lash extensions.

As the days get shorter and we are getting less sunlight our body’s naturally shed out more hair.  This happens to all of our hair (those of you with pets probably notice certain times of the year that your fur babies are leaving more hair around the house!) including our eyelashes.  When we have lash extensions on it is more noticeable that we are loosing lashes.  The fall shed is a natural reaction to the season change.  You may require longer lash fill times or more frequent fills to keep your lashes looking as full as you like them.

Ask your lash artist or call us if you have more questions on this!  970-231-6513

AFTERCARE FOR LASH EXTENSIONS

AFTER CARE FOR LASH EXTENSIONS

After getting lash extensions how do I care for them?   This is a very important part of having lash extensions- proper after care will increase your lash extensions life!

You will be emailed a full set of instructions after your initial appointment.  But here are some of the highlights to prepare you.

No oil based eye makeup around your extensions

No mascara used on your extensions (lower lashes are ok to put it on)

cleanse your lashes as recommended by your lash artist and use only lint free application tools to cleanse them

Keep your lashes dry for 24 hours after application

Be aware that steam, hot tubs, bbq’s, fire pits, hot yoga, sweat lodges, ovens opening. Anything that produces extreme heat may affect your lashes.  Extreme heat when hitting your lashes may cause them to clump together or singe them.

Spray sunblock is not recommended for use around your eyes – it may get onto the lashes and cause the adhesive to break down faster that it normally does.

You will be provided with a spooly wand to help keep your lashes untangle.  It is best to use this on dry lashes only.

DO NOT PULL OR PICK AT YOUR LASHES- THIS MAY CAUSE IRREPARABLE DAMAGE TO YOUR NATURAL LASH

Strip lashes are not recommended for use while wearing extensions

Glycol and oil are not recommended to be ingredients in your lash shampoo that you choose to use.

Do not sleep on your lash extensions it can effect the retention of them

This is just a partial list of recommended aftercare for your lash extensions please feel free to ask us any other questions that you may have. 970-231-6513

How hard are lash extensions to care for?

Here at Eye Do Lashes 4U LLC we will go over all before and aftercare for your lashes at your lash appointment. However if you forget here is the basic guidelines for keeping your lash extension looking great!

Don’t get them wet for a full 24 hours after application.

Avoid steam rooms, hot tubs, saunas and heavy workouts for a full 24-48 hours after application.

NEVER pull or pick at your lashes.

Do not sleep on your lashes- it is best to sleep on your back. However if you are a side sleeper you may want to invest in a good eye sleeping mask. (We have them for sale at the Eye Do Lashes 4U LLC shop)

Clean your lashes daily. Your lash technician will walk you thru the steps at your first appointment.

Brush your lash extensions daily (preferably after you shower and your lashes have air dried).

Be cautious when opening hot ovens or around bbq grills – the blast of hot air can melt your lashes together (if this happens it is best to get in as soon as possible to your lash tech- so they can separate your lashes to not cause damage)

We care about your lash extension health – please feel free to contact us with any questions either via email EyeDoLashes4U@gmail.com or by phone at (970) 231-6513.

How long do lash extensions last for?

This is a hot topic in the lash extension world! Lash extensions will “last” as long as your natural lash does in MOST cases. In general most people will loose 2-5 lashes per day per eye. When lash extensions are applied properly (see our other blog about this) most people will require an infill every 2-3 weeks to keep their lashes looking full and gorgeous. However there are factors that can play into your lash extension life. If you wear oil based makeup around your eye area or use an oil based cleanser on your eyes; apply mascara over your extensions this can cause the adhesive used to apply your lash extensions to break down the adhesive and the lash extensions to fall off prematurely.

Also if you get your lash extension wet within the first 24-48 hours the chances of the lash extensions falling off sooner is much higher. The same if you are an avid swimmer the chlorination in the pool may cause the adhesive to break down at a faster rate.

If you do not take proper care of your lashes- cleaning them daily or as recommended by your lash artist (sometimes know as Lashita).

Excessive sweating, wiping at or pulling your lash extensions will also deplete the life of your lashes.

Hormone imbalances or health problems that affect your hair growth can also play into a shorter lash cycle. For example I have a thyroid problem that intermittently causes my hair to fall out quicker than normal- hence I need to have lash infills more frequently.

Lashes can also be affected by the way you sleep. Stomach sleepers will have poorer retention side or back sleepers. It is recommended to not sleep on your lashes- it can cause them to fall out faster and can also “bend” your lashes in a different direction.

All this being said lash extensions are not hard to keep on for most by following simple guidelines and talking to your certified lash technician and getting any questions you have answered.

Feel free to contact us at EyeDoLashes4U@gmail.com or by phone at 970-231-6513 with any questions you may have or to schedule a lash consultation.

Who can apply lash extensions in Colorado?

Here in Colorado you must be licensed thru the state as an esthetician or cosmetologist to legally apply lashes.  You can look up your lash artist at https://www.google.com/search?q=colorado+dora+license+lookup&oq=colorado+dora+license+&aqs=chrome.3.69i57j0l2j35i39j0l2.12954j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

By typing your lash artists first and last name into the look up form; selecting Colorado and then search- your lash artist should be on the Colorado DORA list- if they are not on this list… more than likely they are not licensed to apply lashes in Colorado.  Most Estheticians and Cosmetologists carry liability insurance as well; most insurance will not cover any service that is not in the scope of practice of a certain job category.  This being said there are many individuals that claim to be Lash Artists that may or may not have proper training.  Do your research before getting lash extensions from a Lash Artist- if lashes are not applied correctly they can cause damage to your natural lashes. (Subscribe to our blog  for more information on this and other topics from Eye Do Lashes 4U LLC)

Here at Eye Do Lashes 4U LLC all of our technicians have been trained in classic lashes and continue to take advanced classes at least one time a year.  All of our technicians are also members of WALAD – World Association Lash Artists & Development- ensuring that we are kept up to date on all of the important changes and trainings that are related to the lash industry.
